The well-known Google Panda Update caused a stir among website owners and SEO experts in February 2011. It was first published in the USA on February 23, 2001. Later it was available worldwide on April 11, 2001.

But what is the Panda update primarily about? Panda is a kind of filter that searches the index of the search engine at regular intervals. If Google discovers websites with poor quality, the visibility is lowered directly. That means: The page loses in the SERPs ranking.

While some minor updates are released only in certain regions, languages or other areas, the Panda update played an important role worldwide. This is how it was rolled out globally.

By the way, the Google update was not named "Panda" because of the world-famous Panda bear. Rather, the engineer of the update was called "Navneet Panda", who created the filter.

In the past, Google published rather small updates that referred to the subpages of a domain. The Google Panda update, on the other hand, refers to a complete website (incl. start and subpages).
